Day School Songs (2000)
for unison children's choir (or treble voice) & string quartet
These Day School Songs are settings of poems written by young students at the Bucks County Country Day School in Pennsylvania. I chose the three poems in this set for their common sense of imagination and a presence of candy in one way or another throughout them. The works were written for the students at the Day School to perform under the direction of their teacher, Sean Boyle. The pieces may be performed separately, but, if performed as a set, they should be sung in the existing order. Though meant for children’s choir the work may also be performed by a single treble voice.
