DAY SCHOOL SONGS

One of the most satisfying experiences I’ve ever had was collaborating with some grade school kids at the Bucks County Country Day School. The kids had written poems and I (as well as some other Curtis colleagues: David Ludwig, Yevgeniy Sharlat and Chia-Yu Hsu) wrote music. But nothing could prepare us for the blast we had at the premiere at the Bucks County Country Day School’s annual chorus and band concert. I for one am strangely prouder of these than almost anything else I’ve ever done.

Here are the Day School Songs. Enjoy!

ROCKIN’ OUT AT THE CURTIS

For any Curtis grads who long for those Wednesday teas, brownies, Keebler cookies, and Naomi Graffman’s ever-smiling, welcoming presence, this is for you. (Especially if you were there between the years 1999-2002) First premiered at the 2001 Holiday Party, here’s an intimate performance from my grad recital (give it some time – it’s a decent-sized file):

Wednesday Tea (length 7’02)

WARMING UP THE CROWD

Here’s a clip of me singing the folk song included in (and the inspiration for) my string orchestra work, Over Yondro. It’s taken from an introductory talk I gave at the first performance.

AS GOOD AS IT GETS

I thought I’d share my favorite 6 seconds of music of mine. These 6 seconds may be subject to change.
